Yacobus Orange is a Polish natural orange wine from Lower Silesia, made from Hibernal, Riesling and Solaris. It comes from the village of Jakubów, where one of the St Jacob’s pilgrimage routes passes on its way to Santiago de Compostela. Here, Michał Pajdosz runs a four-hectare vineyard planted on a south-facing slope.
The wine spent six weeks on the skins and undergoes spontaneous fermentation, partly in Georgian qvevri and partly in old oak barrels. Elegant and silky with a tangy edge, it shows notes of quince, dried apricot, black tea, tobacco and leather.
