About Grape & Grono

Grape & Grono was founded by Karolina, a Pole living in Berlin, with a simple idea: to bring Polish wine across the border and introduce it to a wider audience in Germany.

Karolina's interest in wine began long before Grape & Grono. Over the years, that interest led her to complete the WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wine and become a judge at international wine competitions. But the idea for Grape & Grono came later, after discovering how much the Polish wine scene had changed.

Trying Polish wine again after years of living abroad was a revelation. Polish winemakers were producing ambitious, distinctive wines, yet very little of what was happening in Poland was visible internationally – even in neighbouring Germany.

That proximity became an important part of Grape & Grono. The portfolio focuses particularly on independent wineries in western Poland, some of them less than two hours from Berlin. It brings together different approaches to contemporary Polish winemaking, from Vitis vinifera varieties to PIWIs, and from traditional method sparkling wines and Pet Nats to still wines in a wide range of styles.

Through Grape & Grono, Karolina's mission is to show that Poland is one of Europe's most exciting emerging wine regions and that exceptional wines are being made just across Germany's eastern border.

Today, Grape & Grono imports and distributes Polish wine to private customers, restaurants, wine bars and retailers in Germany, while tastings and events offer another way to discover the people, places and wines behind Poland's growing wine scene.
